Full Description
September 2005. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of undated linear ditches are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are located to the east of Filby church and are centred on TG 4700 1328. Four sections of linear ditch are visible as cropmarks. Three of these in the southern part of the group are aligned roughly southwest to northeast. The fourth ditch extends for 64m on a north to south alignment and is located in the northern part of the group. None of these ditch cropmarks has an alignment that corresponds to the surviving post medieval field pattern. It is likely that these cropmarks relate to field or other boundaries of an unknown, but probably medieval or earlier, date.
J. Albone (NMP), 22 September 2005
