Timber framed house, externally Georgianised, but based on a timber frame of about 1600 of which little is visible.
Date 1803 on fireplace may refer to Georgianisation.
Screen of 17th century panels may be a recent import.
See report (S2) and (S3).
E. Rose (NLA), 7 June 2005.

It is suggested in (S3) that the screen is part of a screens passage, part of which was removed for a later corridor. The outline of a figure is visible on the service side of the screen, possibly an original painting, or a 19th century painting.
S. Spooner (NLA), 25 October 2005.

April 2005. Building Survey.
This building is the Hall and service end of a tripartite post-medieval house (the parlour is No. 49). The building is rendered with a pantiled roof. The original chimney stack is between the Hall and the parlour and there is a later stack against the north gable wall. The exposed timbers, flat laid common joists and plank and muntin screen could indicate a late 16th or early 17th century date for the original building. The house appears to have been remodelled in the early 18th century and the date of 1803 is inscribed above the first floor fireplace.
See report (S4) for further information.
S. Howard (NLA), 10 November 2009.
