Full Description
House of two storeys (upper storey part dormers) with central stack. Various gabled wings and projections are all 20th century additions. The original block is plastered externally with no evidence of date, except that the south wall has a suggestion of change of build between storeys and a dentilled cornice; brick quoins at this level are visible inside the roofspace of an extension; which may suggest a single storey building was heightened in the 19th century. The ground floor fireplace in the east side of the main stack has a bressumer with a reeded moulding, and scratches resembling AM apotropaic graffiti; but also two pegged mortices towards the centre as if for uprights set below the bressumer. It appears to be late medieval/early post medieval. Possibly this may have originally been a window lintel; but almost certainly it has come from elsewhere and been inserted here at a recent date. The opposite fireplace is of recent date.
2005.
Proposal to demolish building. Preservation of the bressumer urged.
(S1) and (S2) in file.
