Map

House, at time of inspection in 1982 identified as a square brick cottage probably of 18th century date; recent mapping suggests it has been extended. Roof formed of a solid pyramid of thatch tied in bundles. In centre was an egg-shaped hole containing a mummified cat. No evidence to indicate whether deliberately placed there, or had simply crawled away to die.
It has been said (reference lost) that thatched roofs of this type are very rare in East Anglia.
