Map

May 2003. Norfolk NMP.
A group of quite fragmentary linear features is visible on NLA oblique aerial photographs from 1989 (S1). The clearest cropmark features are a linear ditch, 80m long, running from TG 1103 4002 to TG 1105 4010. Initially this linear appeared to be part of envelope pattern, although the fact that it has a perpendicular ditch running up to it the west, made it more likely it was an archaeological ditch. To the north there was another ditch, again which appeared to be envelope pattern, although this also may be archaeological. To the east of the site is an L shaped section of ditch running from TG 1114 4014 to TG 1121 4002. This may be defining part of an enclosure or earlier field shape. The alignments of these various ditches are not consistent across the field and therefore probably represent several phases of activity, possibly unrelated and of unknown date.
S. Massey (NMP), 16 May 2003.

February-June 2022. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable.
This work saw trenches placed across three of the westernmost cropmarks in this group. There was no evidence for associated sub-surface remains.
See NHER 66140 for further details.
