Map

January 2004. Norfolk NMP.
World War Two spigot mortar emplacement on Kelling Heath and visible on RAF aerial photographs from 1946 (S1) and Ordnance Survey photographs from 1969 (S2). At TG 1033 4187 is a spigot mortar emplacement, sitting within a circular trench with three slit trenches coming off at right angles. It is possible that this feature formed part of the military training site on the heath, although it presumably served a defensive purpose as well.
S. Massey (NMP), 8 January 2003.
