Summary

Metal-detecting between 2004 and 2007 recovered Roman and medieval coins as well as Middle Bronze Age to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Middle Bronze Age to Roman awl; a Late Iron Age/Roman bow brooch and terret or rein ring; a Roman bow brooch, cosmetic mortar, nail, spoon, knife handle, strap fitting and mount; an Early Saxon cruciform brooch fragment and small-long brooches and a medieval buckle and harness pendant. Of particular note, a silver Viking 'slug-like' shaped ingot was also recovered and would have been used as bullion in payments or trade transactions.
