Summary

Metal-detecting and fieldwalking at this location between 2005 and 2024 recovered Roman and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval jetton; a post-medieval token and a range of other, Late Iron Age/Roman to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Late Iron Age/Roman brooch; Roman finger rings, a brooch, harness mount, copper alloy beads, copper alloy hairpin and lead steelyard weight; Middle/Late Saxon hooked tags and a pin; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval tailor's thimble or sewing ring, copper alloy vessel foot and lead spindle whorl; a medieval/post-medieval writing lead and copper alloy vessel fragment and post-medieval harness mounts, a hooked attachment for spur leather, key, inscribed knife scale, silver thimble and silver mount.

The cast copper alloy foot from a medieval cooking vessel was the only find of note recovered at this location.

Late Iron Age/Roman Colchester brooch.
Roman Colchester-derivative Harlow brooch, 2 finger rings, a harness mount, 3 copper alloy beads, a copper alloy hairpin and a lead steelyard weight.
3 Middle/Late Saxon hooked tags and a pin.
12 medieval buckles, 9 strap mounts, 7 strap ends, 5 bar mounts, 2 strap loops, a belt or strap mount, tailor's thimble or sewing ring and lead spindle whorl.
Medieval/post-medieval buckle, writing lead and copper alloy vessel fragment.
1 post-medieval token, 3 buckles, 4 harness mounts, a hooked attachment for spur leather, silver mount and silver thimble.

The post-medieval silver mount and silver thimble were both disclaimed as Treasure (Refs 2024 T762 and 2024 T807 respectively) and returned to the finder.
