Summary

An earthwork of a pit of medieval to post medieval date is visible on aerial photographs. The function of this pit is uncertain, but it may have been an extractive pit for marine clay. Its position on the marshland indicates that it is of medieval to post medieval date. The field containing this pit had been ploughed and the earthworks levelled by 1980.

An earthwork of an elongated pit of medieval to post medieval date is visible on aerial photographs (S1). This pit is located at TG 4961 0849. It has an elongated shape with straight sides and rounded ends and measures up to 17.5m by 4m. The function of this pit is uncertain, but it may have been an extractive pit for marine clay. Its position on the marshland indicates that it is of medieval to post medieval date. The field containing this pit had been ploughed and the earthworks levelled by 1980 (S2).
