Full Description
November 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A wreck of an unidentified boat is visible in Breydon Water on aerial photographs (S1-S3). This wreck is located at TG 48270 07235 adjacent to the northern bank of Breydon Water. The vessel is aligned on a southwest to northeast axis parallel to the flood bank, possibly with its bow to the northeast. It appears to being lying partly on its side and measures 18m (59 feet) long by at least 3.6m (11 feet 10 inches) wide. Its length is similar to that of a wherry or Norfolk keel, but it is not sufficiently visible for this to be certain. It is likely that this vessel is of 19th or 20th century date. This wreck is positioned on, and parallel to, a channel marked on the second edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey map (S4). Further wrecks are located 80m and 340m to the northeast (NHER 42187 and NHER 42188) and 250m to the southwest (NHER 42185, 42383-4).
