Full Description
November 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A wreck of an unidentified boat is visible in Breydon Water on aerial photographs (S1-S3). This wreck is located at TG 48345 07265 on the northern edge of Breydon Water. The vessel is aligned on a east to west axis adjacent to the flood bank, with its bow to the west. It is fully visible, has a flat stern and measures 17m (56 feet) long by at least 5m (16 feet 5 inches) wide. Its size is similar to that of a wherry or Norfolk keel, but it is not certain that is a vessel of this type. It is likely that it is of 19th or 20th century date. This wreck is positioned on a channel marked on the second edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey map (S4). Further wrecks are located 260m to the northeast (NHER 42188) and 80m (NHER 42186) and 340m to the southwest (NHER 42185, 42383-4).
J. Albone (NMP), 25 November 2005.
