Summary

A wreck of an unidentified boat is visible in Breydon Water on aerial photographs. Although it is not possible to determine the type of vessel it is probably of 19th or 20th century date. This wreck is positioned on the edge of a channel marked on an old map.

A wreck of an unidentified boat is visible in Breydon Water on aerial photographs (S1-S3). This wreck is located at TG 48590 07345 adjacent to the northern bank of Breydon Water. The vessel is aligned on a southwest to northeast axis parallel to the flood bank, possibly with its bow to the southwest. It is lying on it side and measures 16m (52 feet 6 inches) long by at least 3.4m (11 feet 2 inches) wide. Although it is not possible to determine the type of vessel it is probably of 19th or 20th century date. This wreck is positioned on the edge of a channel marked on the second edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey map (S4). Further wrecks are located 260m, 340m and around 590m to the southwest (NHER 42187, NHER 42186, NHER 42185 and NHER42383-4).
