Summary

An L shaped timber framed building with a red brick covering and a date of 1613. A later date plaque of 1918 refers to a restoration carried out at that time by the author Rider Haggard.

Listing Description:
Dated 1613. Red brick over timber frame. Two storeys and part attic. L plan. Three bay wing to north, three plain pilasters; ground floor windows with stone/stucco surrounds; central door flanked by arched windows. Axial stack off-centre to south has bases of moulded shafts. Internal stack to north gable. Crossing with ovolo mullion and transomed windows. Iron date 1613, also 1918 referring to restoration by Rider Haggard. West wall of main block is colourwashed over timber frame. Internal beams and rails are ovolo moulded with bar stops. Crosswing roof with clasped upper sand butted lower purlins and arched collars; Main range has only traces of clasped purlins.
