Map

September 2005. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a series of rectilinear field boundaries or drainage ditches of probable post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs, to the south of Sea Palling village (S1). The site is centred on TG 4279 2649. The ditches or drains are parallel to the post medieval drains running through the site, which are present on the 1839 Palling Tithe map (S2). This area is marked as fen on Faden’s map of 1797 (S3), although it is possible that these boundaries and drains had been cut on Palling common by this point. The post medieval drains appear to cut through the features visible on the aerial photographs, although it seems likely that they are broadly part of the same phase.
S. Massey (NMP), 30 September 2005.
