Summary

A World War Two bomb crater is visible on aerial photographs. This is one of many craters located in the marshland to the south of Breydon Water resulting from air raids on the Great Yarmouth area.

A World War Two bomb crater is visible on aerial photographs (S1-S3). This crater is centred on TG 4909 0641 and is located in the marshland on the south side of Breydon Water. The crater is sub-circular in plan with a diameter of up to 18m. It is surrounded by an irregular area of upcast soil from the crater. Numerous other World War Two bomb craters are located in this area of marshland, resulting from air raids on Great Yarmouth. This crater was still present as an earthwork in 1970 (S3) but had been filled in by 1980 (S4).
