Summary

A possible World War Two defensive structure may be visible on aerial photographs located at the intersection of Mill Lane and Beccles Lane, Bradwell. Although the aerial photograph evidence is inconclusive, this road intersection site would be a typical location for a World War Two gun emplacement or similar defence. Two similarly sited defences are located approximately 400m to the northeast at the intersection of Beccles Lane and Crab Lane (NHER 42238-9).

Map

December 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A possible World War Two defensive structure may be visible on aerial photographs located at the intersection of Mill Lane and Beccles Lane, Bradwell (S1). The site is centred on TG 5091 0398. The site consists of a triangular area of disturbed ground covering verge at the road intersection. This is suggestive of recent activity and given the date of the aerial photograph this may be military in nature. Within this area of disturbed ground is a possible rectangular structure, measuring approximately 4m by 2m.
