Map

December 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A group of World War Two air raid shelters are visible on aerial photographs within the back gardens of Colomb Road, Gorleston (S1 and S2). These shelters are visible as earth covered mounds, probably Anderson shelters, and would have been for the use of the families living in the properties. The site is centred on TG 5221 0491.

The shelters are all approximately 2m by 3.5m, apart from the shelter in the garden of 89 Colomb Road which is larger, measuring 4.5m by 4m, and appears to have an emergency exit hatch or vent projecting from the mound. The rest of the shelters are in the gardens of numbers 60, 68, 70, 76, 85 and 113.
