Summary

Metal-detecting in 2005 and a systematic survey of part of this field in 2013/2014 recovered prehistoric worked flints; an undatable burnt flint; ?Roman and medieval pottery sherds; a possible Roman coin blank and a number of other, medieval to modern metal objects. These metal finds included a medieval thimble; a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragment; post-medieval buttons and a lead key; a post-medieval/modern silver finger ring and door knob and undatable lead weights.

September-October 2005. Metal-detecting.
1 Roman silver ?coin blank.
1 medieval belt mount/stiffener (gilt), 1 thimble and 1 silver finger ring.
1 medieval/post-medieval vessel leg fragment.
1 post medieval silver composite button with engraved flower, 1 copper alloy composite button and 1 lead key.
1 post-medieval/modern silver finger ring with stamped decoration.
2 undatable lead weights and 1 lead metal working scrap.
Possible coin blank identified by A. Marsden (NLA) and other objects by S. Ashley (NLA). See list in file.
The silver finger ring was initially recorded as medieval but after being submitted for consideration as Treasure was identified as being of post-medieval or modern date (and therefore not Treasure) - see entry in (S1).

Survey of proposed route of Dudgeon Offshore Windfarm onshore cable (Field 166).
Finds recovered at this location included:
1 undatable burnt flint.
1 prehistoric retouched flint flake, 1 flake and 1 spall.
1 Neolithic/Bronze Age flint flake.
1 ?Roman pottery sherd.
2 medieval pottery sherds.
1 post-medieval/modern door knob.
