Summary

Fieldwalking in around 2005 recovered two potentially Palaeolithic flint flakes; Mesolithic/Early Neolithic flint blades; an Early Neolithic flint projectile point, possible laurel leaf and cores and a range of Neolithic/Bronze Age worked flints, including scrapers, knives, borers, retouched flakes, hammerstones and approximately 500 flakes. A small number of medieval to modern pottery sherds and post-medieval clay pipe fragments were also found.

1 ?Lower Palaeolithic flint scraper and 1 flake (both with deep patination and dark brown staining).
20 Mesolithic/Early Neolithic flint blades.
1 Early Neolithic leaf-shaped flint projectile head, 1 ?unfinished laurel leaf and 22 cores (15 single platform and 7 two or more platform).
57 Neolithic/Bronze Age scrapers (including 29 ?Neolithic end scrapers, 7 small ?Early Bronze Age end scrapers, 10 ?Bronze Age side scrapers and 3 Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age ‘button’ scrapers), 3 flake knives, 8 piercers, 2 notched flakes, 13 miscellaneous retouched flakes, 3 hammerstones, 1 keeled core and approximately 500 flakes/flake fragments.
38 medieval to modern pottery sherds.
30 post-medieval clay pipe stems.
