Summary

In 2005 a Palaeolithic flint handaxe and a Neolithic flaked flint axehead were found in this field, while metal-detecting between 2015 and 2016 recovered a Roman pottery sherd; medieval buckles and a harness mount and a post-medieval spur rowel and cloth seal.

Full Description

Before 26 November 2005. Stray Find.
1 Palaeolithic flint handaxe. Pointed, patinated and stained a light brown all over. See drawing (S1).
1 Neolithic flaked flint axehead.
Identified by P. Robins (NCM), see list and descriptions in file. The Neolithic flaked axehead is one of two reported by the finder, one of which was from this field and the other from NHER 42834. It is uncertain which one was from which location.
These discoveries were reported in (S2).
