Summary

This red brick shop was built in 1720. The two storey building has an attic. Unusually the gable end of the building faces onto the street. There is a late 19th century plate glass shop front in this gable end. Tie irons in the gable end read 1720 E B.

June 1953. Listed, Grade II.
Listing Description:
Shop. Dated 1720. Red brick laid in Flemish bond with some burnt headers. Pantile roof. Two storeys and attic; single window range. Arrangement is of building with the gable-end facing the street. Late 19th century plate-glass shop front in west able with fluted consoles to the fascia board. Above are one 2/2 horned sash to each floor. Platband at attic floor. Shaped gable with date in tie irons 1720 E B (numeral 7 missing). Gabled roof with internal gable-end stack to east. Returns rendered and whitewashed. Casements and sashes. Much rebuilt.
INTERIOR: little of interest in ground floor. First floor not inspected.
