Full Description
January 2006. Norfolk NMP.
Earthworks of probable Late Saxon to medieval saltern mounds are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These earthworks are centred on TG 4949 0846 in an area of former marshland. Two sub oval mounds are present, measuring 70m by 38m and 33m by 22m in size. It is likely that they are saltern mounds of Late Saxon to medieval date. They are located close to curvilinear drainage ditches, which probably originated as natural channels (NHER 42417). Another possible saltern mound is located 300m to the northwest (NHER 42415).
