Summary

A mid-19th-century terrace of eight houses, part of which has been converted into two hotels. The terrace has a cast iron balcony which runs the full length of the façade. The end houses have a higher attic storey than the central houses, which have a pierced parapet.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Terrace of eight houses dating from 1844, part now two hotels. Stuccoed brick with slate and concrete tile roofs. Three storeys and attic on a basement; 16 window range. Nos 1 and 2 and 7 and 8 have a higher parapeted attic storey to close the terrace to east and west and are brought forward with rusticated quoins. The centre houses (Nos 3 to 6) have a pierced parapet. Each house has an entrance door under a plain overlight and a three-storey canted bay window. Cast iron balcony runs entire length of terrace at first floor level. Sashes mostly without glazing bars...French doors to the balcony. Nos 1and 2 converted in 20th-century to one house and doorway and steps to former No.1 removed. Gabled and hipped roofs. Three transverse ridge stacks."
