Summary

An early 17th-century house with substantial later alterations. The house has a 17th century wine cellar with a large brick fireplace and some early 17th-century wood panelling. The house is now used as a shop.

Listing Description excerpt:
"House, now a shop. Early 17th-century house, built around during 19th and 20th centuries. Row façade mid C19. Brick. Pantiled roof. Three storeys; two-window range. Ground floor has a late 20th-century plate-glass shop front continuous with Nos 4 & 5 [NHERs 42929 and 42930] under a wide timber hood...Overhanging eaves. Rear with large extensions of 1966 partly engulfing an early 17th-century wing running north, which was built as a free-standing house.
INTERIOR: the ground floor has been opened out into a 20th-century sales area. 17th-century rear wing cellar with wide brick fireplace under a four-centred chamfered arch, the chimney flue intact. Various steps up to later brick walls reveal position of 17th-century courtyards. Ground floor is part of present shop. First floor with three sunk-quadrant bridging beams and a passageway to east has two walls of small-framed early 17th-century panelling, one wall relocated from the room to north. Roof has four trusses of upper crucks."
