Summary

A mid-17th-century house with original cellars and substantial later alterations. To the rear of the house is the first three storeys of an early 18th-century octagonal lookout tower, which originally rose to five storeys.

Listing Description excerpt:
"House. Mid 17th century. Rebuilt late 19th century as a shop with domestic accommodation. Brick. Pantiled roof. Three storeys (formerly four); two-window range. Upper floor removed in 1950s. Late 20th-century plate-glass shop front extends through Nos 3 & 4 [NHERs 42928 and 42929]...Parapet rebuilt 1990. Gabled roof. Rear with a two-storeyed rendered cross-wing, in entrant angle of which is three storeys of a formerly five-storey look-out tower: early 18thcentury, octagonal, with late 20th-century windows.
INTERIOR: very much altered in 20th century. Interior of tower with a circular centre newel rising from a fluted base. 17th-century cellars remain, somewhat altered."
