Map

January 2006. Norfolk NMP.
A group World War Two air raid shelters is visible on aerial photographs within the gardens on Park Road and Victoria Road, Gorleston (S1( and (S2). The site is centred on TG 5271 0319. Number 21 Park Road appears to be equipped with two air raid shelters; one in the front garden and another in the back. Both of these shelters are quite large and presumably serve several households. The shelter in the front consists of a roughly 8m square earth covered mound, with revetted wall facing the street. The shelter in the rear garden is visible as an irregular shaped mound, again approximately 8m across, with two circular vents or shafts clearly visible in the top in 1944 (S1). A third shelter is visible in the adjoining garden of 23a Victoria Road. This shelter consists of a roughly oblong mound, 10m by 4.5m, which appears to have two concrete structures sticking out from the covered part of the mound, potentially relating to entrances.
