Map

January 2006. Norfolk NMP.
A group World War Two air raid shelters is visible on aerial photographs within the gardens on Victoria Road, Gorleston (S1 to S2). The majority of the shelters are visible as earthen mounds, probably covering Anderson shelters, and these would have been for the use of the families living in the properties. The site is centred on TG 5268 0304.

The majority of the shelters are all approximately 3m by 2m and are located within the gardens of numbers 22, 38, 48 and 60 Victoria Road. The shelter at 60 Victoria Road differs from the rest in that it has a blast wall covered entrance. Within the garden of 56 Victoria Road is a small rectangular stone or concrete structure, measuring 2m by 1m. It is possible that this is a surface air raid shelter, although it could easily have been an existing garden structure, such as a shed.
