Map

January 2006. Norfolk NMP.
A pair of World War Two weapons pits is visible on aerial photographs on what is now Victoria Road, Gorleston (S1). The site is centred on TG 5284 0265 and during the Second World War the site was undeveloped grassland. These pits are likely to have been associated with coastal defence and/or training activities within the area, see NHER 42346 and 42351 for similarly located weapons pits.

At TG 5284 0267 is a roughly oblong shaped pit, 4m by 3m, with a conjoined trench running off to the east. An oblong mound is located to the immediate south. At TG 5283 0263 is an ‘key hole’ shaped pit, measuring 5m by 3m and with an associated mound to the east.
