Map

January 2006. Norfolk NMP.
Earthworks of linear drainage ditches of probable medieval to post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2). These earthworks are centred on TG 4754 0573 in an area of former marshland. A rectilinear pattern of drainage ditches are present at the western end of this group of earthworks. These lie on a roughly southwest to northeast axis and define at least three rectangular fields or enclosures. These measure up to 69m long by 43m wide internally. This field and drainage pattern lies at an angle to some of the modern drainage ditches. It is not marked on the 1843 Burgh Castle tithe map (S3) and is probably of medieval to post medieval date. Two isolated section of linear drainage ditch, probably of a similar date, are present further to the northeast.
