Summary

A probable World War Two air raid shelter is visible as a structure and earthwork on aerial photographs taken in 1944-5 onwards. The small shelter lay in the garden of what is now Broad View and was probably intended for the use of its inhabitants. Later aerial photographs suggest that it has since been levelled.

Map

January 2006. Norfolk NMP.
A probable World War Two air raid shelter is visible on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2), centred at TG 4963 1943. It was located in the garden of what is now Broad View, and it was probably a small shelter, such as an Anderson, intended for the use of the house’s inhabitants. It consisted of a small rectangular structure, which was possibly semi-sunken, with a sunken entrance at its northeast end. It appears to have been levelled by July 1946 (S3).
S. Tremlett (NMP), 31 January 2006.
