Summary

A World War Two defensive structure is visible on aerial photographs on Cliff Avenue, Gorleston-on-Sea. The exact nature of this small square structure is not known, it may have been a pillbox or gun emplacement, although the location does not appear particularly strategic. It may have been a Home Guard post or shelter.

A pair of World War Two air raid shelters is visible on aerial photographs within the back garden of 52 Lowestoft Road, Gorleston-on-Sea (S1)-(S2). The structure is centred on TG 5280 0312 and is 4.5m square. The exact nature of this small square structure is not known, it may have been a pillbox or gun emplacement, although the location does not appear particularly strategic. It may have been a Home Guard post or shelter. The structure is now demolished and 17 Cliff Avenue stands on its location.
