Map

April 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Stretch of sea bank running for approximately 2.5km along the Heacham coast, from the old Harbour at TF 3354 3695 to the Hunstanton parish boundary at TF 6665 3946, visible on the 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S1) and (S2). The bank varies in width from 6m to 10m. The route of the bank is marked on the 1781 Enclosure map as the 'new bank' (S3). Although the fact that it is not included on the 1797 Faden map (surveyed 1790 to 1794) (S4), suggests that the bank was planned and not necessarily constructed in 1781. The bank first appears on the 1826 Bryant map (S5), indicating that the construction was actually undertaken during these years.
S. Massey (NMP), 26 April 2002.
