Group of linear features, visible on Ordnance Survey vertical aerial photographs from 1967 (S1) and ADAS aerial photographs from 1970 (S2) and (S3). Many of these are parallel to one another, running roughly north to south. However one runs along the contour for approximately 650m, from TF 6928 3787 to TF 6985 3764. Another clear linear, almost perpendicular to the first, runs from TF 6970 3785 to TF 6943 3742. This ditch appears to have been cut by the railway line and would have originally been about 500m long. Halfway along its length the linear is braided, possibly indicating the re-cutting of the ditch. It is extremely wide in places, up to 9m across. It may be a hollow way or similar feature. It is possible that this linear is marked on the 1623 map of Heacham Manor (S4). It is not entirely clear what feature has been transcribed, but it defines the edge of an area of fields. Therefore it may be a relatively large boundary or more likely a road or trackway. Although the majority of the smaller linears are likely to represent field boundaries. These are also loosely consistent with the plots of land defined on the 1623 map (S4). Although some of them may relate to the system of ditches and drains associated with the possible water meadow site to the south (26835).
