Map

April 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Two slight earthwork mounds located on the saltmarsh, visible on saltmarsh on 1946 RAF (S1) and 1969 Meridian (S2) aerial photographs. The larger of the two measuring 58m by 38m. Both features are slightly raised and paler than the surrounding marsh. They are both situated within the meander of a saltmarsh channel. It is possible that these are natural mounds, although it may be a saltern, probably medieval to post-medieval in date. It is situated on the landward side of a post-medieval sea bank (NHER 26617) and is likely to pre-date this phase of bank construction.
S. Massey (NMP), 16 April 2002.

August 2025. Northwest Norfolk Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AI&M) Project (volunteer strand).
The medieval to post medieval salterns described above appear to still be visible as earthworks on visualised lidar data from a survey flown in 2018 (S3).
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 12 August 2025.
