Full Description
Flint and brick house. Bricks have horizontal skintlings and so post-1770. Originally of two floors and vance with central stack, winding stair and a studwork partition – photographs of latter suggest it was of late date. All removed 1994-5 when central area left open from floor to roof. Basic A-frame roof structure survives; the timbers, and others in odd places around the house, are clearly reused having large dovetails, mortices and sockets in the form of Latin crosses. One roof timber has LOT 276 in red paint indicating purchase at a sale. They are said locally to be from wherries, which is possible but there is nothing specifically marine about them.
