Summary

The site of a World War Two air raid shelter on South Denes, Great Yarmouth. The Denes was being utilised extensively by the military for both training and defensive purposes (see NHER 43323 for details) so it is probable that this air raid shelter was for military personnel.

The site of a World War Two air raid shelter is visible on aerial photographs on South Denes, Great Yarmouth (S1)-(S2). The Denes was being utilised extensively by the military for both training and defensive purposes, see NHER 43323 for details, so it is probable that this air raid shelter was for military personnel. The site is centred on TG 5310 0411 and consists of a roughly oblong mound, 17m across, with four rectangular entrance slots cut into the mound.
