Map

March 2006. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of a linear ditch of unknown date are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are centred on TF 6989 3516. A single linear ditch cropmark extends intermittently for 270m on a northwest to southeast alignment between TF 6978 3521 and TF 7003 3510. It is crossed by the present course of the Snettisham to Sedgeford road and is overlain by a triangular plantation called ‘Beech Wood’. This ditch does not correspond to field boundaries shown on an estate map of Sedgeford dating to 1630 (S2). The area around this cropmark appears to have lain in Sedgeford parish at that time, rather than in Snettisham parish. Although the date of this ditch is uncertain it is likely to be of medieval or earlier origin.
