Summary

The site of a probable Bronze Age round barrow is visible as the earthwork of a mound on visualised lidar data and as the cropmark of a ring ditch on aerial photographs. It lies on a north-facing slope of a small dry valley at 45m OD. Other ring ditch cropmarks are present to the north, west and south (NHER 43394, 43396, 1622, 33599, 43392) forming a dispersed group. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2018), it is likely that the earthwork of the mound still survives.

Map

March 2006. Norfolk NMP.
A cropmark of an incomplete ring ditch, probably a Bronze Age round barrow, is visible on aerial photographs (S1). This cropmark is centred on TF 7031 3550. The ring ditch has a circular plan with a 6m wide ditch and an external diameter of 32m. This ring ditch is likely to be of Bronze Age date and probably relates to a round barrow. It lies on a north facing slope of a small dry valley at 45m OD. Other ring ditch cropmarks are present to the north, west and south (NHER 43394, 43396, 1622, 33599, 43392) forming a dispersed group.

July 2025. Northwest Norfolk Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AI&M) Project (volunteer strand).
A small mound is visible as an earthwork on visualised lidar data (S2) at the same location as the cropmark of a probable Bronze Age round barrow described above. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently it is likely that the mound still survives as an earthwork.
