Full Description
March 2006. Norfolk NMP.
A cropmark of a medieval to post medieval road is visible on aerial photographs (S1). This cropmark is centred on TF 7025 3690. A positive cropmark is present for 294m on a curving northwest to southeast alignment between TF 7012 3696 and TF 7037 3682. The cropmark is up to 6m wide and its position corresponds exactly with a road marked on a 1631 estate map of Sedgeford (S2). The road, which is probably medieval to early post medieval in date, is shown cutting across a number of strip fields on the map. It is likely that the positive cropmark represents part of the hollow way of the road or possibly a roadside ditch.
J. Albone (NMP), 17 March 2006.
