Full Description
March 2006. Norfolk NMP.
Earthworks of a linear ditch and a small mound of possible medieval to post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These earthworks are centred on TF 7134 3644. An earthwork of a linear ditch is present on a roughly north to south alignment for 70m between TF 7134 3647 and TF 7133 3640. This ditch does not correspond to any boundaries marked on a 1631 estate map of Sedgeford or any later maps (S2). However, it is likely that the ditch is of medieval to post medieval date. A small earthwork mound is present on its eastern side at its north end. This mound is sub-oval in plan and measures 15m by 7.5m in size. Its function and date are uncertain, but it could also be of medieval to post medieval origin.
J. Albone (NMP), 24 March 2006.
