Full Description
March 2006. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a ring ditch, probably the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow, are visible on aerial photographs within former arable land, now the location of Cherry Close, Bradwell (S1). Two other ring ditches are located within 500m to the west (NHER 43448, 43450). One of these may be a Bronze Age round barrow that has been reused as post mill mound (NHER 43448). NHER 43450 also appears to have been a post mill mound, although this may not have originally been a Bronze Age barrow and may be have been entirely constructed in the medieval period, see record for details.
The ring ditch is centred on TG 5065 0444 and measures 14m in diameter. The ring ditch is not complete; the western arc is not visible. There are no signs of internal features or later modification. The site of this former barrow is now the location of number 6-8 Cherry Close, Bradwell.
S. Massey (NMP), 29 March 2006.
