Summary

The former Rectory House has now been divided into four separate houses. It was built between 1856 and 1858 by G.E. Pritchett. The carstone building has freestone dressings and slate roofs. It has two storeys with attics and a double pile plan. It was built in high Victorian Gothic style.

Listing Description Excerpt:
"Former Rectory House, now divided into four separate dwellings. 1856 to 1858 by G.E. Pritchett, architect of Bishop's Stortford, for the Rev. William Philip Beckett, vicar, who also restored the church and built the school. Cost £2,000. Coursed, dressed carstone with freestone dressings, slated roofs."

According to (S3) in file, on an internal wall is pencilled the height of Master Henry Beckett dated 1856. This must cause one to question the dates given above for the building of the house.
