Full Description
House, now shop. Façade pf painted brick is probably of quite recent date. Interior featureless except for basement which has spine beam, rounded for two thirds of its length and said to be a river boat mast which is possible.
[1] states he has found other chambers and tunnels but these are not now visible.
Similarly a story that Simon de Montfort hid a treasure in the house when fleeing from Oliver Cromwell who lived nearby lacks supporting evidence.
E. Rose (NLA), 7 March 2006.
