Full Description
April 2006. Norfolk NMP.
A probable air raid shelter dating to World War Two is visible as an earthwork, which presumably covered a structure, on aerial photographs (S1), centred at TG 5250 0831. It lay in the back garden of a house on land off Whittleton Place, part of a terrace that has since been demolished. This location, together with its small size, suggests that it was a private shelter intended for the use of this particular household. It may have been an Anderson shelter or a similar proprietary design. Recent aerial photographs of the area, for exapmle (S2), demonstrate that the shelter has now almost certainly been levelled.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 20 April 2006.
