Full Description
October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Length of barbed wire obstruction constructed upon Salthouse heath and visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S1). The defence runs from TG 0779 4171 to TG 0779 4195.
The defence is not continuous and is built in five sections;
TG 0779 4171 to TG 0769 4173
TG 0767 4175 to TG 0766 4193
TG 0766 4193 to TG 0770 4200
TG 0771 4201 to TG 0776 4200
TG 0776 4200 to TG 0779 4195
The positioning of the obstruction does make sense in relation to the heathland defences, it is possible that it was constructed as part of a training exercise.
S. Massey (NMP), 15 April 2003.
