Map

October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
World War two military structure visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs. The structure appears to consist of two opposing banks, constructed in the shape of a ‘hump-back’ bridge. The structure measures 12m by 8.5m and the banks are approximately 1.5m thick. The central enclosed area is a oval, measuring 5m by 5.5m. These banks are extremely low, with the area in the centre being slightly sunken and dug in. There also appears to be a slight ditch dug around the exterior of the banks. This structure looks slightly different to the other gun emplacements on the heath (i.e. NHER 19389-19394), although it is likely that it is another example of a gun emplacement.
S. Massey (NMP), 15 April 2003.
