Map

October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Cluster of bomb craters and broken ground on Salthouse heath dating to World War Two activity and visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S1). There are approximately thirty craters, centred on TG 0738 4230 and covering an area of 145m by 70m. It is possible that this relates to enemy fire on the site, although it seems more likely that it was anti-aircraft gun practice on the heath. There are around twenty gun emplacements on the heath and it seems likely that the area was being utilised for training.
S. Massey (NMP), 15 April 2003.
