Map

December 2003. Norfolk NMP.
World War Two earthworks of trenches are visible on RAF aerial photographs from 1946 (S1) and 1950 (S2). A pair of curvilinear trenches are visible facing each other, both approximately 20m long, centred on TG 0989 4200. The western trench runs from TG 0988 4207 to TG 0989 4205 and the eastern section run from TG 0989 4205 to TG 0989 4207. It would seem that both of these trenches are made up of two terminus pits, plus a central point pit, which are all linked by a curvilinear trench. These pits are all approximately 2m by 3m. These trenches are likely to have been dug as part of training exercises on the heath.
S. Massey (NMP), 8 December 2003.
