Map

December 2003. Norfolk NMP.
A group of probable World War Two pits and a trench are visible on periphery of Kelling Heath on RAF aerial photographs from 1946 (S1). An L-shaped trench is visible, running from TG 0969 4249 to TG 0967 4249. The ditch is 15m long and increases in width from east to west, from 1.5-7m. To the south of this is a group of four pits, varying in size from 3m by 2m (TG 09671 42458) to 5m by 3m (TG 0966 4244), a further two pits are visible at TG 0968 4245 and TG 0967 4244. The earthworks of the pits all appear quite fresh and are therefore likely to relate World War Two training exercises.
S. Massey (NMP), 8 December 2003.
