Full Description
January 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Two possible stretches of World War One practice trench on Kelling Heath and visible on RAF aerial photographs from 1946 (S1). The faint surface remains of two trenches, both consisting of crenellated and straight sections are visible running from TG 0993 4092 to TG 0989 4095 and from TG 0996 4087 to TG 0993 4094. The morphology and the fact that it seems mostly filled in by 1946 would suggest that these are the remains of World War One practice trenches and would have formed part of the massive training and rifle site up on the heath.
